The Williams & Byrne stained glass studio is based in the heart of England, in the English county of Shropshire, UK.

You will find the studio in the Shropshire village of Stanton Lacy, surrounded by fields and hills.

The main studio is a converted barn. It covers about 1000 square feet over two floors. Downstairs for painting and making, with three large workbenches, glass racks, soldering irons, tools, hundreds of brushes, the kiln and so forth. Upstairs for designing and thinking, with a desk, easel, large stand-up drawing board, books, piano, rugs, chairs and a chaise longue.

With so much work to do, there is also a second studio – just around the corner from the main studio – occupying 700 square feet over two floors. This is used for designing, conserving, and specialist teaching either 1-to-1 or for post-graduate instruction and consultancy services for other studios.

At Stanton Lacy, where we are, there is a fine collection of makers and designers. To the right and left of us are five other studios:

• Furniture design from Bevan & Hely-Hutchinson
• Washed and carded wool from Moral Fiber
• Design, marketing and copyrighting expertise with The Visual Works.
